Yoga Day.......Earth Day

Earth Day Omaha Goes Virtual With Lessons On Yoga, Composting, Rain Barrels..

An Earth Day Speech. I thank all of you who are here, to celebrate Earth Day, today. It's a beautiful day in Wisconsin, hard not to appreciate Earth Day in a place like this. Today, we honor Gaylord Nelson, who passed away last year, we honor him for his vision.

KUAmblerRec on Twitter: "What's a better way to celebrate Earth ...

Speech for Earth day in English

Saturday’s sunny weather was the perfect backdrop as families got together virtually for Earth Day Omaha.
Omaha’s traditional Earth Day celebration was changed to a virtual gathering because of the limits on in-person gatherings. Families engaged in yoga sessions, learned how to compost from home and took in live performances via Earth Day Omaha’s website.
Annabel Lee Major, a certified Nebraska naturalist, said she was impressed with how the celebration was set up. She is a volunteer for the Nebraska Master Naturalist Program and attends Earth Day Omaha every year.
“They’ve done a great job at representing a lot of the industries and the nonprofits that would have normally been in attendance,” she said.
Major said the demonstrations on composting and how to make a rain barrel were her favorites and motivated her to sign up for Hillside Solutions’ Compost Club. It’s a drop-off compost program in which Hillside Solutions turns household waste, such as food scraps, paper products and yard debris, into nutrient-dense soil.
“I think these organizations like Hillside Solutions give us insight into how the world can move forward in ecologically responsible, resilient and sustainable ways,” Major said.
Brent Crampton, a member of the Earth Day Omaha board, said the event was already planned when the board decided in mid-March to move to a virtual celebration.
“We saw that people were transitioning to virtual spaces as substitutes,” he said.
Earth Day Omaha and Sarpy County Earth Day organizers collaborated and created a single virtual Earth Day event with the help of Sonburst Communications. The celebrations are usually a week apart.
“What we love about Earth Day is that it’s the one time that all of Omaha’s sustainability comes together in the same place, and that is unique,” Crampton said.
Participants were encouraged to share their Earth Day family gatherings and activities on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #VirtualEarthDayOmaha.
Earth Day Omaha also found a way to include vendors by setting up a virtual map of Elmwood Park, where the event is usually held, with areas blocked out representing each vendor. People could click on a vendor area, and information about the vendor would appear on the screen.
“I’m glad that option was available because it introduced me to some vendors that I didn’t know were out there,” Major said. “It’s nice to see the sense of community in Omaha, even though we’re all spread out.”

The Willow Island Pony Express station sits in a city park in Cozad, Neb. First used as a trading post, the station also served as a stage coach stop for the Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company. The cabin was originally built on a bank of the Platte River, south of present-day Darr, Neb., and was moved here in 1938.

For both Native American tribes and pioneers traveling westward, Chimney Rock, now a National Historic Site near Bayard, was the first of two important markers along the Oregon, Mormon, and California trails in the Nebraska Panhandle. The unique geological formation, along with the landmark at Scotts Bluff National Monument, less than thirty miles away, appears mentioned in the writings of many early settlers.

The Homestead Act of 1862 offered incentive, in the form of 160 acres of free land, to pioneers moving westward. Homestead National Monument commemorates this historic event, housing an extensive collection of homesteading artifacts and offering interactive exhibits documenting the lives of early settlers. On display here is a 1945 Allis Chalmers Model C tractor, used in Alaska on the nation's last homestead.

Rapids attract visitors to the Niobrara River's Rocky Ford area. Only a fraction of segments of rivers in the United States are able to be designated under the National Wild & Scenic Rivers System - the 76-mile stretch near Valentine qualifies by being a free-flowing segment with accessible undeveloped shoreline and clean or managed water. Rocky Ford, a popular take-out site for canoes and float trips, is privately owned, but past negotiations have considered turning it over to the federal government to ensure continued public access.

Millions of years ago, the plentiful riverbanks and lush vegetation of Northwest Nebraska provided a perfect habitat for mammals that eventually became fossilized and are now being discovered along "Fossil Freeway," a corridor of paleontology sites stretching from Kimball, Nebraska, to Rapid City, South Dakota.

These Four Hit Songs Are Perfect For Your At-home Power Yoga Routine

Celebrate nature: Earth Day in Whittier - Candlewood Villas

Speech for Earth day in English

These four songs are the perfect additions to your power yoga playlist. Power yoga is an intense, fitness-based version of vinyasa yoga, a form of the practice known for its seamless flow from one pose to the next. Music can play an important role in getting you in the right mindset for a yoga workout, according to certified yoga instructor Karen Kassover.
“If you play a very strong song, the poses become stronger. If you play a relaxing song at the end, it helps you relax. The music really helps the practice,” Kassover told Shape.
Spanish singer Rosalia’s “Di mi nombre,” is an alt-flamenco pop hit which peaked at No. 1 on Spain’s music charts. The song is medium tempo while simultaneously upbeat. This is a great combination for power yoga, which flows quicker than traditional forms with yogis transitioning from each pose in just a few breathes.
Next up, Lana Del Rey’s cover of Sublime’s 1996 song “Doin’ Time” will give your routine those airy, California vibes and what Pitchfork describes as “roiling trip-hop percussion.” While power yoga is known more for its strength training than its meditative properties, Lana Del Rey’s breathy coos will remind you to inhale and exhale every once in a while.
Let Tame Impala’s “One More Year” up the intensity. The psychedelic funk song and opening track of the artist’s fourth record “The Slow Rush” will up the ante with its thumping drums. But fear not, singer Kevin Parker’s gentle voice won’t overpower your ears or distract you from the energizing workout.
Finally, slow things down with Chet Faker’s 2014 single “Talk is Cheap.” The soulful, alternative R&B song will help transition into a cool down while providing a melodic close out to your power yoga routine.
With most gyms closed, a great power yoga workout with the perfect playlist might be a worthy venture.
